Last Week...

...we got another piece of equipment to add to our gym/garage. It's looking a little more complete, so I guess I really have no excuse not to work out now.

(Thanks, mom!)

...I got my nails done in anticipation of the new year. They kind of remind me of Britney's opening act costume...love them!

...Grace explained to Grammy about an upcoming date with Noah (she better be planning this for when she's sixteen).

...the girls and I had a late night ice cream date before bed.

...they watched movies on their iPad and hung out in the bedroom before our New Year's Eve celebration.

...Charley continued to nap in her sleeper.

...we spent New Year's Eve with our awesome neighbors. We had a blast eating pizza, watching the kids drive around in their cars, popping confetti, enjoying Shelly's delicious cake balls, watching fireworks, playing hide-and-go-seek, and even had our very own horn parade. The girls' didn't make it to midnight, so Isaac and I stayed up watching movies and relaxing with hot chocolate. It was a great way to ring in the new year.

(Yes, there are three cake balls in that little guy's hand!)

(Best parade I've ever seen!)

My only resolutions this year are to learn to eat a little healthier (I consume abnormal amounts of sugar on a daily basis), drink more water, and learn to enjoy the little things a little more. We are so busy that we don't take as much time as we should to sit down and just enjoy our amazing life. I definitely want to do more of that this next year.

...the next morning, I woke up to Isaac drinking coffee on the couch, and Charley eating a bag of marshmallows (whatttt?!).

...we went to breakfast and spent the rest of our morning at Hidden Falls Park. The girls had so much fun being outside on such a gorgeous, sunny day.

(Char got scared after Daddy threw her up in the air like sister.)

...when we got home, the girls played outside for a while, so Daddy and I could put away some of the Christmas lights.

...we went to Outback for dinner and had the most delicious grilled lobster and asparagus. I was totally surprised that Gracie loved it and ate most of mine.

...Charley learned Wheels on the Bus at school this week, and she randomly started singing it one night. I figured out what she was singing and we've been working on it for the past couple of days. She's so stinkin' cute!

...Grace and Charley watched movies on their iPads and couldn't decide whose they should watch.

...Grace asked me to take a picture of her, because she really liked her dress. I can't believe how big my little girl is getting.

...she learned how to FaceTime Grammy on her iPad and kept calling her over and over again. I had to turn it off, and this is the fake tantrum she threw.

...the girls played with Gracie's new princess dolls, and I was shocked to see Charley know them by name already.

...we played outside with more sidewalk chalk after work on Friday.

...we had dinner at Kasie and Jeremy's house where we tried Spanish Quinoa for the first time (pretty good), and Charley was the happiest cookie monster that ever lived (obviously with no shirt on...that's how she rolls).

...she slept in her sleeper all week, and I couldn't get over how thick her hair is getting.

...the girls made Daddy carry them around on Sunday morning.

...Char took an early nap while we took down the rest of our Christmas lights. She woke up and came outside to join us with the cutest pigtails ever.

...we went to Lucille's with the Sebastians, and all of the kids wanted to ride with us. They made us play Roar by Katy Perry on repeat the entire way as they all sang along. They had a blast chasing each other all over, and JJ was just happy to have some sweet tea (so was I!).

...the girls watched Hercules with Daddy that night before bed.

...we woke up early Sunday, and Charley colored on Daddy's phone. It's so weird, because she is more interested in using the "eraser" to clear the screen until it's completely black than actually coloring. I had a mild/weird form of pica when I was pregnant with her where I had this urge to color things in completely with Sharpies or even on the iPad. So crazy how that translates into something she likes to do. A little obsessive compulsiveness never hurt anybody.

...we went to The Cracked Egg for breakfast. Grace kept building creamer towers and then Char would knock them down all over the place and giggle.

...everyone took a nap when we got home, so I got to relax and watch a couple episodes of Breaking Bad.

...we had a late lunch at Chapalas.

...we decided to start The Whole 30 on Monday after new year's. It didn't seem feasible to do it January 1st, because it fell on a Wednesday. This is our shopping/food guide for the next 30 days. It's basically just to show us how much we rely on sugar and carbs and reset our metabolisms and palette to learn to eat healthier. I'm not planning on avoiding all of these foods forever, but I don't think it would hurt to learn some new healthier recipes and get better acquainted with proteins and veggies for our sake and that of our girls. I'm actually looking forward to it and can't wait to get started.

...we made some coconut chicken fingers to throw on a salad for our first Whole 30 lunch at work the next Monday. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

See you next week!
