Cocoa and Cookies with the Espejos

Last week, we took a trip to Omaha, Nebraska. It wasn't a planned trip, but Isaac's great grandma passed away and the whole family travelled back for the funeral. We had originally planned a trip for June, so we made sure to take a whole week to get time in with all sides of the family.

We didn't know we were leaving until Thursday night and had to spend extra hours Friday at work getting as much done as possible.

We booked our tickets and headed to the airport first thing Saturday morning (Isaac's Dad, Kim, Zacarias, Elisha, and Elijah left Thursday night and drove there):

After we checked our bags, we had to wait in line for the security check. Grace kept saying, "ahh ahh ahh". We turned around and saw that the girl in front of us had a monkey backpack.

She's such a smarty pants!

I made sure to grab some apple juice and Teddy Grahams to take on the flight, and Grace was so good. She loved sitting on Daddy's lap and even got to watch Megamind. About half way through she fell asleep. This meant that she was in a great mood when we got to Omaha. We grabbed our luggage and waited in the airport for Zacarias and cousin Krista to come pick us up. Grace had a blast exploring a new place:

When we got to Grandpa and Grandma Espejo's, Grace didn't need any time to warm up to her cousins. She jumped right in and started playing with them:

She even gave Grandma kisses and played with Grandpa:

She really liked cousin Elliana's monkey with buckles:

After that, they all jumped in the car and took turns riding around. Grace was so bossy and kept trying to push the other girls out of her way:

When they wouldn't move, she'd just sit on their laps:

The next day she was a little nicer. She even shared her cars with Elliana:

We made her toast for breakfast, and she was only interested in licking all of the jelly off:

Monday was the funeral, and it was such a beautiful service. It was nice to meet all of Isaac's extended cousins, aunts, and uncles as well.

After we all got back home, we took a family picture of all the Espejo's:

The girl's got to play together some more while Grandpa made us all homemade enchiladas:

They were so delicious, even Grace ate a whole one (and fed Daddy his):

After dinner, we were all tired and Elijah fell asleep first. Apparently, that's something you don't do in the Espejo family:

Before bed, Grandpa Espejo gave the girls some cocoa and cookies which Grace thoroughly enjoyed:

The next day we headed to stay with Isaac's mom's side of the family. We took so many pictures with them that I'll have to do a separate post about that side.

After a few days with Grandma Sally and Rick, Great Grandma Jennie, Uncle Mike and Aunt Susie, and Papa and Diane, we came back to Grandpa and Grandma Espejo's for one last day before we flew home.

The girls got more cocoa and cookies:

And the cousins all watched movies together:

After we got Grace to sleep,

(not an easy task after cocoa and cookies)

we stayed up talking and looking at old pictures with Grandpa and Grandma for hours. I'll make sure to get a third post in here with all of the old pictures we reminisced about.

The next morning, it was time to go home. We took one last picture with the grandparents and then they took us to the airport:

Grace slept almost the whole flight home and kept the other passengers entertained with her cuteness for the rest of the flight:

I was so happy that Grace was such a good girl on the plane. It made the trip that much more enjoyable.

We had so much fun with all of the cousins and can't wait to see them all again!
