Breaking Tradition {Happy Mother's Day!}
Every Mother's Day, my sisters and I go to the Henderson Art Fest with my mom. The past few years, the art festival has had less and less booths, and the weather has gotten hotter and hotter. This year, we decided to go to the Mirage to hang out at Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. We figured this would be something that all of the kids would enjoy, as well.
When we got there, the kids admired the dolphins swimming around in the first pool. The girls loved them, and Chase was in awe. He just kept pointing at them with this cute little look on his face.
They were finishing up a training session, so we went to the second pool to see what was going on. There was a grandma, mother, and daughter dolphin swimming around playing together. How sweet and appropriate for Mother's Day.
Since the next training session wasn't going to start for fifteen minutes, we went to the underwater viewing area. The kids really loved this part, and we got to watch the dolphins play/wrestle with each other and toss a ball around. It was so cool to see, and I could sit there watching them all day long.
We headed back up to the pools since the training session was starting. Chase was loving the dolphins and kept telling us that they had a ball. I think he may have been more interested in their basketball than them.
Grace loved watching them jump and wave to the crowd.
Charley enjoyed an Icee while she watched the show. This was right before she dumped it all over the place. Typical Char.
I had so much fun with my girls watching the dolphins play. Although, I have fun with them no matter what we're doing.
We moved on to the Secret Garden to check out the lions and tigers. Charley was pretty excited to see the white tigers. She kept talking about them and really loved this lion statue.
The lions and black panther were napping, so we moved on to the tigers.
This white tiger was the cutest. He kept playing in the water and resting his head on his toys. I wanted to give him a hug so badly.
Apparently, this tiger isn't a huge fan of the white one. When he heard the white tiger growl at his ball, he started pacing and roaring across the way.
After spending lots of time watching the white tiger play and be so freaking cute, we made our way out of the habitat to go to lunch. Not before Grammy and Papa bought the kids some souvenirs and we checked the dolphins out one more time, though.
We stopped for lunch at the Mirage buffet, where we enjoyed some yummy food and bottomless mimosas.
We had such a fun day! I had to get a few pics of Gracie, because this sweet lady from Gold and Arrows sent her these sparkly pigtail bows in exchange for a picture to use on her website. We love her headbands, so we were really excited to get some new sparkle to try.
We took a few more pictures and then headed back to Grammy and Papa's to drop the kids off. The girls were going to have a sleepover at their house that night and were so excited for it.
I'm glad we found something to do, even though it didn't follow tradition. We had a great time hanging out with the family and seeing the animals.
Being a mother is the most rewarding, challenging, amazing, fulfilling thing in the world. I cherish these two girls with everything I have, and I have learned so much from loving them unconditionally. Every day I am in awe of them and cannot believe that I have been so blessed to be the mother of two of these two sweet girls.
